New Christmas Style has arrived

Flowergirlprincess.com is getting ready for the Christmas season for sure. A new style arrived today and it radiates Christmas. Available in toddlers sizes all the way to teens, this dress is perfect for a school dance or that Saturday night family Christmas party.
For a smaller child we recomend a little fur shrug or bolero. A tween will love the flowing movie star matching scarf.
This year the 'Amherst' Girls Christmas Dress is a trendy winner.

Flower Girl Dresses for your Toddler

Frequent questions come from customers who are prepping a little girl who might be just a big young to really take in all the direction needed for a flower girl's duties. Toddlers do make great cherub additions to any wedding party especialy a bright eyed little girl who is aware and eager to play the part. When searching for a toddler flower girl dress our sizes come in two size intervals. This means typically you will see 2, 4, 6, etc. These dresses are usually cut to fit 2/3, 4/5, and so on, unless otherwise noted. The two number is the same as a 2T, which stands for 2 Toddler. Every clothing manufacturer is different so if a perfect fit is required we would recommend attention to the size chart. A toddler flower girl is much easier to fit than the bigger girls. A toddler flower girl has fewer and simpler styles to select from as it is most important to put the child in an age appropriate dress. Puffing the skirt so that it ends about the shoe toe is recommended so no one trips on their flower petals. In the smaller sizes the chest and waist measurements are usually the same and a fat fluffy sash can pull in any extra fabric with out the need for actual alterations. So, pick a dress that she can wear for her piano recitales in the spring!

November Feature

This week FlowerGirlPrincess is featuring one of our favorite black and white classics SK2920 - Brin. The Brin style is available in silver and peach, but the black and white contrast dress is by far the most popular. This dress is suprisingly heavy and full with its multiple satin and tulle layers. Extra tulle creates a light airy fluttery look.

FlowerGirlPrincess 'Princess of the week'

We recently received a message from a happy customer. She wrote the following, "By the way,
I wanted to thank you AGAIN for the expedited service. I was so nervous
after the first dress didn't fit--terrified that I hadn't allowed enough time before
the wedding to exchange the dress for the right size. In any case, thank you, thank
you, thank you! We received the dresses (size 4 & 6) well in time for our departure
to Canada. The wedding was chaotic (a long story), but the flower girl dress looked
great on my daughter. Attached is a picture.'

New Arrivals for the Fall Season

The month of August brings the first peek of fall fashion. Of course, at Flowergirlprincess we are buzzing about this seasons wedding industry styles, and from what we've seen there is a lot to buzz about. The fall usually brings on a complete shift in fabric and colors from the previous two seasons and when planning an event a year in advance it is important to stay abreast on the latest trends. However, wedding fashion will stay popular for 2 and even 3 years to accommodate for long term planning.

Although we specialize in all children's formal wear, flower girl dresses are our number one favorite topic. A flower girl dress represents the perfect symbol of innocence and princess fantasy that leaves us with so much creative opportunity. This September one can expect bold strong colors like red and bright blue, and purple. Even the pastels are a stronger, brighter, more vibrant shade. Traditional wedding fabrics like satin can carry these bold colors well.

The bubble dress is a big hit again this season. A bubble dress is when the lining is is sealed with the main garment. Usually there is a layer of fluffy crinoline netting or tulle stuffed inside the two sealed layers and the hem puffs out in a bubble appearance. This style is a chic look that can be worn for all formal and semi-formal occasions. One of the great aspects of this dress is its diversity and ability to wear this style for more than just its one time wedding celebration.

Although this style has been around for a few seasons, this fall we see the multi tiered version. This is a combination of a tiered layered outer layer with each tier sealed in lining with the bubble style. This is a new style and has been wildly popular with wedding parties. One can expect to see these multi tiered bubble dresses in classic white or ivory with a bold red or blue over sized sash.

Taffeta is another classic fabric for fall and winter flower girl dresses . Look for elaborate embroidery this holiday season over an outer layer of party taffeta. One will find rich royal plums, corals, purples, and hearty foresty greens. This years embroidery is thick and textured and creates a look of regal quality.

Also, look for names associated with American manufacturers. In the past few years small American companies have pulled far ahead their competition in quality and craftsmanship. Todays manufacturers are producing hand beaded garments, along with custom crafted item. The consumer appreciation for American made goods has started to pay off as some of these well run manufacturers are producing dozens of more styles in their seasonal line than they were even five years ago.

Of course our line isnt entirely limited to wedding occasions and many little girls walked away with new school dresses, church clothes, and party dresses. Customer Feedback

Alyssa recently got back to us after her spring ocean side ceremony. She had selected the white organza beaded flower girl dresses "So much prettier in real life than in the store pictures. These dresses were such a delightful surprise for such an exciting day" Organza is a great fabric for a summer or warm weather event. It's beautiful and formal but also airy and lightweight and great for the kids in a warm environment. One might immediately think to never put children in white outside in the sand, but surprisingly organza dosent pick up stains and dirt as easily as other fabrics. It is also easy to clean in a cold water wash.\

I was in my bedroom when the cat stumbled in dressed in cabbage patch clothes and wearing lipstick. I asked my daughter why the cat was all dressed up and she said “because she’s getting married to the dog, but don’t worry I’m gonna take the clothes off her. She’s got to get into her divorce outfit next, so she can get re-married to the fish”.

This past Winter my best friend Meridith married her long time high school sweetheart, Steven. We were all friends through high school and college. Meridith (everyone called her Meri for short) asked for my 4 year old Angelica to be the flower girl and I happily agreed. The wedding was beautiful and the ceremony went off perfectly inside the Holy Roman Catholic Church. My little Angelica was very excited being the flower girl but the most important thing to her was that she wanted to catch the bouquet that was going to be thrown. When the time came for Meridith to throw the bouquet Angel scrambled in front of the taller women. Which we all thought was hysterically funny that our little angel was going to try so hard to catch that bouquet like the big girls. Well, of course, the bouquet (white satin ribbons trailing) sailed over Angel’s flaxen curls. At which Angel stomped her foot and yelled “Hell Meri!” The room fell silent. Red-faced, I ran up to her grabbed her little hand and whisked her to the ladies room. “Angel, why did you say that? You can’t say that word it’s a bad word” I was almost breathless and in tears from embarrasement. “What word mommy?” she asked me quizzically. “Hell. You can’t say hell. It’s a bad word baby.” “Where did you hear that from? Who says that?” I asked. “Father Marco does every Sunday at mass mommy.” “He says, Hell Meri full of grapes.”

My daughter was 5 yrs old flower girl; as the procession was marching down the aisle, my daughter decided to leave the line and dropped the flower she’d been holding; my sister and my mother immediately ran to her to give her the flower and place her back in line. She screamed “no!,” turned the other way and began to run out of the church. At least 5 people ran after her and when we caught up with her and asked her why she won’t participate in the wedding, she said, “they told me to dance.” Obviously, the people urging her to dance down the aisle didn’t know that she is allergic to the word, “dance.” My daughter is 17 now and dances to music, but throughout her childhood, she never, never once moved to music, let alone dance; she just stands still. We laugh and marvel at this all the time.

Very good place

Our Wedding Classic : experts pick.

The most popular theme for weddings of all seasons is the classic white or ivory flower girl. A classic flower girl design is a combination of innocent simplicity and ballerina elegance with a touch of regal flavor. The white barbara is exactly the perfect dress and by far the most chosen style for the classic wedding. Typically the classic dress is a satin flower girl dress with a fat over sized sash that will tie into a fluffy bow. The barbara dress is a bit different. The bow in the back can be worn in either the front or back. The bow snaps onto the sash over two ending pieces that velcrow together, so with or without the bow it looks chic and sophicated and perfectly wedding. Another common request is the versitile multi layered tulle skirt. With at least four layers of fluffy tulle the layers can be seperated and fluffed. With a little starch the fluffy look will last all day and even through hours of child dancing.

How to turn your warm weather clothes into snug winter outfits.

Shopping for children has one main consideration that isn't necessary for us grown ups; kids often out grow their seasonal wear before the winter boxes are unpacked. This is fine if you have littler ones growing into the next sizes, but if you love those designer quality clothes you might want to be a little creative and turn your summer styles into chic looking cool weather clothes. Since we specialize in girls formal wear we have a few tricks up our sleeve on how to get those early fall dresses through the winter for all those piano recitals and weekend family dinners.

Many of our formal wear dresses are sleeveless or spaghetti strap dresses with chic matching scarves. One great way to change the entire look is to add sleeves with a bolero that turns the dress into a 2 piece ensemble. For a warm holiday look go for a faux fur bolero

If the dress should look delicate a 3/4 length light weight flutter sleeve bolero will match over any taffeta dress and look like it was meant to go with the dress every time.

These accessories give perfect layers without the appearance of an actual outdoor dress coat. Girls coats and capes come in various fabrics and shades. Although colors will depend on personal preference, it is important to try to match the fabric of the dress with the fabric of the bolero in cases of taffeta, satin, and silk. Silk may often look dull or dingy against a stark white poly-satin, and raw silk is not a soft silky feeling material. Always ask if you aren't sure. Typically, people who deal with formal wear fabrics will know exactly what you are asking before the questions come out.
