Gold Themed Holiday Weddings for Bridal Parties

Winter of 2012 has seen a gold theme this year. Unlike last years metallic flavors, this year is a warm yellow gold. January weddings usually still have the holiday theme spill over, as people have spent the past six months getting ready for the party and the holiday colors have been in their face since just after Halloween.
This year the Winter themed weddings look like they are in an optimistic anticipation for the warm weather days. All the traditional colors are full of a warm feeling and healthy floral designs are in full bloom.

Gold and Yellow will be every where this January and February.

Satins will be the fabric of choice for children as usual due to its sturdy integrity. Gold flower girl dresses will have a soft white mixed and flower scrawling through the trim or entire dress.
Long gowns for flower girls are typical during the cold weather months. So, expect the traditional a-line.

Accessories should be matched with ivory tones. Shoes, Stockings, fur shrugs, and hair pieces should all be ivory. Stay clear of dressing children in gold accessories or jewelry. A touch too much in the gold family can quickly look gaudy and like a game of dress up in grandmas attic trunk. If you want the little ones in jewelry, try pearls and flowers.

Communion Dresses

One of our busiest times of the year starts in April when customers start browsing for their communion dresses. We do notice different trends in styles depending on what part of the country your church is located. In the west dresses are usually selected as 2 piece dresses with a removable jacket for warm weather events. Communion dresses are selected with soft breathable materials such as chiffon and beautiful crystal organza. In the North East we see styles in the old traditional Irish and Italian gowns that often look like full miniature brides. Heavy wedding quality matte satins are selected as March, April, and May are usually still chilly.

Dresses range from very simple to very lavish. A simple dress can come together nicely with the proper accessories. A satin pocket book, communion veil and pair of white gloves will make any plain white dress into a dainty formal occasion dress.
Don't over look the possibility of using her communion dress for multiple purposes.
By selecting a dress with a removable sash you can always accessorize a different color sash later for her piano recital, or a christmas party.

2011/2012 Holiday Girls Dress Fashion Season is here!

We find ourselves having a bunch of fun when it comes time to post the holiday fashion. Flower girl dresses are just elegant, but the classic styles often remain the same season after season. The holiday offers a touch of glimmer and color each season that changes up the flavor a bit for us. So with no further hesitation....lets get into it : 2011/2012 Holiday Flower Girl Dresses

Lets start with
Sk301: Already a smash hit in our store location. This adorable holiday ruffle bodice has been an instant hit. We are already on our 4th lot order of this style! Probably because the bit of ruffle is a holiday trend but still a classic A-line cut. Available in white, ivory, and black

SK301 : Ruffle Bodice Organza Flower Girl Dress

Moving on, this season is bringing a mix of satin, ruffles and lace. A drop waist has been seen more frequently, which moves away from the little doll baby look and toward a more chic grown up style. Black is this seasons it color, but also golds and neutrals.

Here is a great example of the lace and ruffle mix design in the full skirt, a lavish traditional cut. The drop waist, shown below, is the same design with a bit of a more slender chic look.

Hair Wreaths for Flower Girls

Get your flower girl ready with a fun activity.
The most common and widely recognized accessory for flower girls is the willowy budded hair wreath that was made popular by old English wedding ceremonies. Today a fabric satin hair piece is more common complete with comb teeth for perfect placement in an updo. Of course this is a cleaner look than a natural flower girl hair piece , but we have one fun little activity for your flower girl. Flower girls may be a little nervous being a part of a production with cameras pointing and people fussing over them. It is important to sit down with your young one to explain what they are doing, their duties, and that its perfectly fine to relax and not worry about being perfect.
While talking about her duties buy a bouquet from your local grocery floral department. Soft stemmed flowers are best. Pick colors that match her flower girl dress. Spread them out on your table and create a natural wreath. You can weave the stems like a traditional christmas wreath or you can split the ends and tie the stems together like one does with butter cups and dandilions on the school play yard.
Either way this fun activity will hold her attention while you explain the grown up details of ceremonies and the role of a flower girl. Let her wear her homemade hair piece and practice her single step walk down the aisle between the kitchen chairs.
Don't forget to let her practice in her flower girl shoes if the new footwear had an inch heal. This is a big day, there is no reason not to stretch out the excitement while getting her ready.

In the heat of the Summer the Holiday catalogs have arrived.

So, here it is the end of July. The temp today is 101 in New England and the sun is just ruthless. Its so hot one can only crack the front door and squeeze a blind palm through the furnace like opening to fetch the mail sitting in the hot metal box. One thick envelope takes priority. A month early this year, our favorite flower girl dress manufacturer Sweet Kids has sent out the holiday and fall dress line. Sweet Kids never disappoints, and this season is a treat. We're so excited for this catalog that we haven't put our flower girl dress line completely together for the winter season but we can't help to give you a bit of a tease.
